THE HOUSE OF GIVENCHY

LONDON FLAGSHIP

GIVENCHY flagship store 165 New Bond Street - LONDON
The House of Givenchy opened its first store in the UK. Located at 165 New Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair, London’s historic district for luxury shopping, this freshly renovated space illustrates Givenchy’s multi-faceted concept and sophisticated brand vision. Ideally situated, the new Givenchy store occupies two 18th-century landmark buildings — the current façade dates to 1864 —, as well as the adjacent grand Victorian building at 23 Albemarle Street, whose brick, terracotta and arabesque design dates to the late 19th century. Expanding on the rich history and architecture of the Mayfair neighborhood, the store’s interior is a promenade through Givenchy’s heritage, cleverly merged with the brand’s of-the-moment sensibility. Original features, such as a rare example of a bow window, a period fireplace, and curved windows have been reinstated and enhanced with subtle lighting to underscore their specialness. Discreet pastel colors typical of 18th-century bourgeois interiors on walls, ceilings and floors are enhanced by traditional gypsum decorative elements, while a clever juxtaposition of mirrors denotes the interplay of past and present inherent in Givenchy’s DNA.

GIVENCHY flagship store 165 New Bond Street - LONDON
Just behind the mahogany doors at 165 New Bond Street, a classical pink décor hosts the Givenchy women’s wear and jewelry collections. Like an art installation, a red staircase leads to the Essential Room, which is home to sophisticated women’s ready-to-wear, shoes and evening attire. Echoing of the house’s visual cues, a long, pink podium bisects the space. Geometric tiles in the ‘optical’ room form an intuitive bridge between the women’s and men’s wear universes. Entrances on Grafton Street and Albemarle Street lead to a men’s wear environment where the spirit of the House’s founder imbues a space defined by fine architectural details such as satiny light green wall finishes and an elegant wooden ceiling. Further along, pastel-hued walls and geometric mosaic flooring offset forward-looking, urban street wear that rocks out in a high-voltage space lined in Givenchy pink tiles. In London, Givenchy’s sophisticated, slightly transgressive “Night Noir” attitude comes into its own, with spring-summer 2019 collections for women and men.
